Sunflower Shoots

Sunflower shoots are popular for their impressive nutritional value. They contain all nine essential amino acids, which makes them a complete protein, as well as iron, potassium, magnesium, calcium, copper and phosphorus. They support immunity and digestive regularity with high levels of zinc. They also contain vitamins A, B complex, D and E.

Sunflower shoots can be a bit more challenging to grow because it is important to harvest them at the right time. Harvest too early and many will be lost because the seed haul will remain and prevent the first leaves from developing. Harvest too late and the shoot moves into the microgreen growth stage, developing true leaves and little hairs on the stem.
